2nd Lt Robert Harry Redhair, co-pilot of the B-24 Liberator 42-40997 “The Worry Bird” took off from Harrington, UK at 2229 on a resupply mission to the resistance as part of Operation Lackey over the Timbale drop zone. Flying nap-of-the-earth, the plane hit a mountain at 0200 and separated into four parts, killing five of the eight crew members. Lt Redhair's body was taken back to the US.
