In the grassy space on the west side of the road in the town hall parking lot.
An oblique stone wall bearing a black plaque with gold lettering commemorating Major Coleman who crashed in the area during WWII. His engine is set up next to the memorial.
Major William G. “Bill” Coleman, pilot of the P-47 Thunderbolt )42-26405), took off from A-8 Picauville on a ground support mission over Flers. He had previously served and been shot down in the Pacific. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Silver Star.
