Thank You America and Allies- Ben Franklin Quote Plaque

In the square near the monuments to Colonel Darby and to the lost DUKW.
A brass inscribed plaque about 3 feet long by 2 feet wide.
In May 2015, on the 70th Anniversary of the ending of World War 2 in Italy, the town of Nago-Torbole placed a plaque with a quote by Benjamin Franklin remembering the war and thanking America and its Allies for the liberation of Italy.
The town of Nago-Torbole was the site of fighting in April –May 1945 as the 10th Mountain Division attempted to block retreating enemy forces from reaching Germany.
Monument Text:
The text is written in Italian and English and reads:
“God grant that not only a love of liberty, but a thorough knowledge of the rights of man may pervade all the nations of the earth, so that a philosopher may set his foot anywhere on its surface and say, ‘This is my country.'”
