Description:
The site includes three memorials: one remembering the 10th Mountain Division Assistant Division Commander and founder of Darby’s Rangers, William O. Darby, who was killed near this location in 1945; another remembering 25 soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division soldiers when their DUKW sank during an attack across Lake Garda in April 1945, and lastly a plaque commemorating the end of the war and thanks to America.
