An engraved brass plaque attached to a small field stone next to a cross and a park bench.
The memorial remembers four American Soldiers form the 112th Infantry Regiment of the 28th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Hurtgen Forest, and what the Germans call the "All Souls Day Battle in November 1944.
The four soldiers were listed as Missing in Action (MIA) after the battle. Each of the four soldiers have since been recovered.
The four 112th Infantry Regiment soldiers were:
Staff Sergeant Lemuel H. Herbert
Sergeant Edward T. Jones
Staff Sergeant John J Farrell Jr.
Private First Class Gerald F. Wipfli
Monument Text:
The inscription on the plaque is written in German and English. The English Reads:
In memory of all servicemen killed during the
"All Souls Day Battle from 2. to 8. November 1944
in particular dedicated to those still missing.
The soldiers are listed with their date of birth, death and date of recovery along with their pictures:
