S/SGT Raymond Malmfelt Marker- 385th Bomber Group

An inscribed fieldstone and a small metal information sign.
The fieldstone marks the location where the body of Staff Sergeant Raymond F. Malmfelt washed ashore after his aircraft was shot down nearby in February 1944.
S/SGT Malmfelt was a crewman on the B-17 (42-31349) 'Stars and Stripes 2nd Edition' of the 550th Bomber Squadron, 385th Bomber Group, 8th US Air Force. On February 24, 2944, 'Stars and Stripes" was shot down while on a mission to Rostock, Germany. All ten crew members were KIA.
