The Isolated burial of an Irish-American who died while serving with the Red Cross and US Army in England in World War 1.  Nurse Helen Josephine 'Helena' Courtney was born in County Cork Ireland in 1888 (or possible 1892).  She immigrated to the US and became a nurse training Springfield, Ohio.  She joined the US Army (or possibly the Red Cross initially) in was transferred to England in early 1918.  She served at Base Hospital 33 in Portsmouth,  England.  Base Hospital 33 tended to over 3500 patients during the war.  Nurse Courtney died of meningitis on October 7, 1918. She was buried in England and was transferred to Ireland in 1920 and was buried in the family plot.
