A large, polished field stone with an inscribed Plaque attached to the front.

The memorial remembers the B-24 (42-64438) 'Ramblin Wreck' of the 700th Bomber Squadron, 445th Bomber Group that crashed here on December 22, 1943. Some confusion exists regarding the name and serial number of the plane.  This crash site is often considered the crash location of the B-24 (42-7520) 'Snow Goose' (with the same crew)'.  However, the Missing Aircraft Report (MACR) 16098 lists this plane as serial number 42-64438.

On 22 December 1943 the B-24 Liberator #42-64438 "Snow Goose" AKA "Ramblin' Wreck" was part of a mission to bomb the railway yards at Osnabruck, Germany. They came under heavy attack at the time of bombs away from German fighters and crashed near Bolsward, Netherlands. They were last seen going down out of control and no chutes were observed. The entire crew perished.

The crew of B-24H (#42-64438) included:

Bulger, Martin P ~ 2nd Lt, Bombardier, Michigan
Clark, George J ~ 2nd Lt, Co-Pilot
