MarkerA rectangular board includes a portrait of President Woodrow Wilson and descriptions of Wilsons contributions to the independence of Czechoslovakia after World War I and efforts to create and later re-create the monument. On the lower right, a graphic insert shows portraits of Tomá Garrigue Masaryk, the first President of Czechoslovakia from 1918 to 1935, and President Wilson.

28th President of the United States of America (1913-1921)
In September 1918 he gave Tomá Garrigue Masaryk the support of the United States for the formation of an independent Czechoslovak state. President Masaryk later wrote: ''Our nation shall never forget that it was you, Mr. President, who...by his knowledge of our right in the most critical moment has made possible the revolution which brought us our national independence.''
The monument, a gift from Americans of Czech and Slovak descent, was originally dedicated on July 4, 1928. The sculptor was Albin Polasek, and the architect was Bohumil Hübschmann. It was torn down by the Germans in December 1941. The monument was rebuilt by the City of Prague, the Metropolitan District of Prague 1, and American Friends of the Czech Republic, an American foundation. It was rededicated on October 5, 2011. The replica of Polasek's statue was created by Michal Blazek, Vaclav Frydecky, and Daniel Talavera. The architects were Mikulas Hulec and Daniel Spicka.

V zárí 1918 vyjádril Tomái Garrigue Masarykovi podporu Spojených státu amerických pro vytvorení samostatného ceskoslovenského státu. Prezident Masaryk pozdeji napsal:"Ná národ by nemel nikdy zapomenout, e jste to byl Vy, pane prezidente, který... veden svou znalostí naeho práva (na sebeurcení) umonil v nejkritictejím okamiku revoluci, která nám prinesla nai národní nezávislost."
Pomník, dárek Americanu ceského a slovenského puvodu, byl puvodne odhalen 4. cervence 1928. Jeho socharem byl Albin Poláek a architektem Bohumil Hübschmann. Stren Nemci byl v prosinci 1941. Pomník byl obnoven za prispení hlavního mesta Prahy, Mestské cásti Praha 1 a americké nadace American Friends of the Czech Republic a znovuodhalen 5. ríjna 2011. Repliku sochy Albína Poláka vytvoril Michal Blaek, Václav Frýdecký a Daniel Talavera. Architekti památníku byli Mikulá Hulec a Daniel picka.
