A triangular stone monument with an inlaid star over a white inscription commemorating American aviators.

B-24 (42-40997) 'The Worry Bird' of the 36th Bomber Squadron, 801st Bomber group crashed nearby during an operation Carpetbagger mission.

From The Harrington Museum (Operation Carpetbagger) website: Hit hilltop and crashed 28.4.44 at St Cyr de Valorges, (Loire), France on Operation "Lackey 3A" at Drop Ground "Timbale". Previously served with 565BS 389 BG at Hethel as "Screamin Mimi".
