2nd Lt Arthur Bozeman Pope, navigator of the B-24 Liberator 42-40997 �The Worry Bird� took off from Harrington, UK at 2229 on a resupply mission to the resistance as part of Operation Lackey over the Timbale drop zone. Flying nap-of-the-earth, the plane hit a mountain at 0200 and separated into four parts, killing five of the eight crew members.
