On that day, a B-17G Flying Fortress four-engine bomber crashed in this area. It was part of the 95th Bomb Group of the 8th Air American force and carried the serial number 43-38660. The plane had taken off from Horham in England for his 23rd war mission, the 12th for the crew of Captain Conover. The target, reached around noon, was the German city of Heilbronn. Hit by Flak (DCA) it couldn't reach its base. Of the ten crew members, six were captured and four were killed in the crash.

Their average age was 24 years.

Passing by, don't forget that these brave young Aviators deserve our Respect because they fought and died for our Liberty.
