Monument

A stone slab monument honoring the 1st Battalion of the 320th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division led by Major Frank Waring for liberating the former commune of Torigni-sur-Vire on July 31, 1944. Featuring the division's insignia at the top, the monument is inscribed in French and was inaugurated on December 12, 2007.

 

On July 31, 1944, Major Frank Waring’s 1st Battalion of the 320th Infantry Regiment captured Torigni-sur-Vire after a coordinated assault with other division units.
