                            Louis B. Kindervatter entered the military service in New York. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company H, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. Initially listed as missing in action, the remains of Sergeant Kindervatter were recovered in 1935 and identified in 1936; then permanently interred at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery. His name is permanently inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial. His surname is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as Kindervater.
