When Earl Eugene Baker was born in 1894 in North Dakota, his father, Richard, was 38 and his mother, Margaret, was 28. He had three brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company M, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 22, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
