Lorenzo Liparulo was injured during the evening of December 17, 1944, when he and one other engineer of the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion (Pvt. Bernard Goldstein) were dispatched in a Jeep to follow a German tank. They came under fire and Liparulo, who was driving, was fatally wounded. He died on December 19, 1944.
