When Leonard Algot Knutson was born on October 2, 1895, in Wisconsin, his father, Andrew, was 35 and his mother, Margareth, was 32. He had two brothers and one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company M, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 (at the age of 22) and is now buried in Sister Bay Moravian Cemetery, Sister Bay, Door County, Wisconsin, USA.
