Thomas Alford was born in Clay County, Alabama, on January 16, 1925; son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Alford. He attended the Clay County Consolidated School, and was employed by the Langdale Mill before entering the service on September 18, 1943. He served as a paratrooper in the European Theater and was wounded in December, 1944. He was killed in action on February 8, 1945, on the German-Belgian border. He was awarded the ETO ribbon with battle stars, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Presidential Citation of Death.
