When Clyde Bair was born on July 12, 1921, in South Carolina, his father, Donald, was 53 and his mother, Gussie, was 36. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in HQ 2 Company, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was Killed in Action on December 21, 1944 (at the age of 23) in Belgium and is now buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg, Orangeburg County, South Carolina, USA.
