When Roy Eugene Bond was born on November 5, 1923, in Iowa City, Iowa, his father, Alva, was 33 and his mother, Laura, was 28. He had two brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in Company H, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was Killed in Action on January 3, 1945 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
