When Aloysius Alex C. Gorko and his twin brother Stanley were born in 1924, their father, Joseph, was 42, and their mother, Frances, was 36. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in Company B, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He died from schrapnel wounds on December 23, 1944 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
