When Willard Brandon Heath was born on April 20, 1917, in Groton, Vermont, his father, Robert, was 29 and his mother, Lydia, was 28. He married Hazel Nellie Brown on April 27, 1940, in Brattleboro, Vermont. They had three children during their marriage. He enlisted in the Army on November 18, 1943 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted as being employed as a Driver. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a pvt in Company E, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was Killed in Action on December 21, 1944 (at the age of 27) in Belgium and is now buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Saint Johnsbury, Caledonia County, Vermont, USA.
