When Grover W. Calhoun was born on May 15, 1893, in Edison, Georgia, his father, Alexander, was 44 and his mother, Sarah, was 36. He enlisted in the Army in Fort Ogletjorpe, GA. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in Company B, 3rd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 and is now buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Arlington, Calhoun County, Georgia, USA. His headstone shows his birth year as 1894.
