When Charles Ezra Miller was born on January 9, 1896, his father, Jesse, was 46 and his mother, Annie, was 40. He entered the military service in Montana and served in the U.S. Army during Wolrd War I as a Private First Class in Company F, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 23, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
