Russell W. Miller entered the military service in Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company A, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 19, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France. His name is commemorated on the Buzancy monument in the MISSING IN ACTION section of the monument.
