When George L. Vidrine was born on December 1, 1898, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, his father, Leandre, was 51 and his mother, Agnes, was 30. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on October 10, 1918 (at the age of 19) in France and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. His name is commemorated on the Buzancy monument in the MISSING IN ACTION section of the monument. His surname is inscribed as Vadrine.
