Pvt. Charles Rissmiller, Battery F. 3rd Battalion, 5th U.S. Field Artillery Regiment (Heavy), 1st Field Artillery Brigade, 1st Division, AEF. Born Pricetown, PA on 18 March 1898.
Awarded the Purple Heart Medal for actions against the enemy.
KIA while serving as an Field Artillery Crewman with Battery F. during an enemy artillery strike upon his battery's position while in direct support of the 2nd Battalion, 16th U.S. Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade while outside of the French town of Bathelémont-lès-Bauzemont, France during The Defensive Sector (Sommerviller), on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 20th, 1917.
Upon Pvt. Rissmiller's death, Pvt. Rissmiller was initially interred at Grave #10, French Military Cemetery, Bathelémont-lès-Bauzemont, France on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 21st, 1917, and was finally reinterred at Grave #37, Row #21, Block D. at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, France on the afternoon of Friday, October 14th, 1921.
