John R. Rickenbach was born on December 19, 1889. He was the son of Edwin K. Rickenbach and Ellen R. Roth Rickenbach. Before entering the service, he was employed by the Consolidated Telephone Co. He entered the military service on November 8, 1917, and was sent to Camp Meade, Md., and assigned to HQ Company, 316th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division and sailed for France on July 9, 1918. He was Killed in Action on September 28, 1918 in Montfaucon, France at the age of 28 and is now buried in Saint Johns Gernants Cemetery, Leesport, Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA.
