Calvin E. Werner was born on October 9, 1892 in Greenville Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Simon Werner and Susan Sipple Werner. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company I, 6th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division. He died on November 10, 1918 in France at the age of 26 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
