Enlisted in Company I, 2nd Infantry, Indiana National Guard (Company I, 152nd Infantry), Tell City, Ind., April 20, 1917. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss. Embarked for overseas May 2, 1918; assigned to Company C, 102nd Infantry, 26th Division. Killed in action November 6, 1918, in the Argonne Forest Drive. (Burial place unknown.)
