George John Oesterle was born on June 10, 1893 Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont. He was the son of Christine Oesterle Schawl DeBelle. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company I, 103rd Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on June 16, 1918 at the age of 25 and is now buried in Park Lawn Cemetery, Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont, USA.
