William Williamson was born in 1916 in Maine. He served in the 27th Troop Squadron, 14th US Air Force in the China-Burma-India Theater during WW2.

He was killed in the Battle of Tengchong in China in 1944. He is remembered with a cenotaph in Tengchong, China.

William served as a Captain on C-47A (#42-118930), 27th Troop Carrier Squadron, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He resided in Kennebec County, Maine prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 30, 1940, prior to the war, in Augusta, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employe as a Advertising agent and also as Single, without dependents. William was "Killed In Action" when his C-47 crashed near Mangshih, China during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. Service # O-424321
