Hugh L. Kehoe was born on April 21, 1896 in Nova Scotia, Canada, son of Patrick Sylvester Kehoe and Hannah Elizabeth Nicholson. He entered the military service in Massachusetts and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He died on November 11, 1918 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
