John J. O'Keefe was the son of Dennis O'Keefe. He enlisted in the old 8th Massachusets regiment in June 1917, and trained at Lynnfield and Westfield. He went overseas and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in the 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on October 16, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France.
