Emmett V. Ripley was born on February 22, 1892. He was the son of John Allen Ripley and Mary Alice Hunt Ripley. he served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company D, 104th Infantry Regiment, 26th Infantry "Yankee" Division. He was Killed in Action on October 16, 1918 in France at the age of 26 and is now buried in Kyle Cemetery, Graham, Nodaway County, Missouri, USA.
