Jewel Bird Rumsey was born on March 2, 1894. He was the son of Albert Jackson Rumsey and Alice Angaline Butler Rumsey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in the 103rd Field Artillery Regiment, 26th Infantry Division. He died on October 24, 1918 at the age of 24 and is now buried in Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Muskogee County, Oklahoma, USA.
