Louis Francis Hart was born on July 8, 1895 in Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was the son of William H. Hart and Elizabeth A. Moran Hart. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company B, 101st Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Infantry Division. He died on October 26, 1918 in France at the age of 23 and is now buried in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, Hartford County, Connecticut, USA. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism in action on October 28, 1918 at Houppy Bois, Millville, France.
