Ernest P. Verdon entered the military service in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Pharmacist's Mate Second Class in the 2nd US Naval Beach Battalion, United States Naval Reserve. He died on June 6, 1944 during the invasion on Utah Beach, France. He is now buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France. His name is commemorated on a large plaque located inside a museum in Utah Beach, France and ranked as a Pharmacist's Mate Third Class.
