William served in Company B, 371st Infantry Regiment, 93rd Division (Colored) as a Corporal during World War I.He died on September 28, 1918 at the age of 25 and is now buried in the Enoree Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Greer, Greenville County, South Carolina, USA.
