Donald E. Jennings was born on February 12, 1922 in Berea, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the son of Blaine Jennings and May M. Jennings. Donald entered the Army in Nov. 1942, and trained at Fort Benning, Georgia. He went overseas in April 1944. Before his induction he was employed by the Craddock Motor Sales in Berea. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Second Lieutenant in the Company C, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on August 18, 1944 in France at the age of 22 and is now buried in Coe Ridge Cemetery, North Olmsted, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA.
