Edward D. Farkas was born on July 3, 1913 in New York. He was the son of Geza J. Farkas and Violet Farkas. He enlisted in the Army on November 6, 1940, prior to the war, in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents. Edward served as a Staff Sergeant, Company D, 18th Infantry, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Monroe County, New York prior to the war. He was Killed in Action on July 26, 1944 at the age of 31 and is now buried in Ligonier Valley Cemetery, Ligonier, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, USA.
