Willie L. Nicholson was born on August 19, 1915 in Van Zandt County, Texas. He was the son of Luther Calvin Nicholson and Joe Anna Anders Nicholson. He entered the Army in 1942 and trained at Camp Wolters, Texas and Camp Reynolds, Penn. Willie served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 1st Infantry Division. He served in Africa, Sicily, England and France. He was Killed in Action on July 28, 1944 in St. Lo, France at the age of 28 and is now buried in Restland Cemetery, Olney, Young County, Texas, USA.
