Gordon Stonebraker was born on December 15, 1918 in Montgomery County, Indiana. He was the son of Ora William Stonebraker and Edith Lola Shoaf Stonebraker. He was inducted into the Army on December 1, 1941 and was trained at Ft. Bragg, NC and Camp Blanding, Florida. Gordon served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 33rd Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on August 28, 1944 in France at the age of 25 and is now buried in Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
