Bernard C. Helstrom was born in 1921 in Maine. He enlisted in the Army on November 20, 1940, prior to the war, in Portland, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents. Bernard served as a Private, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Cumberland County, Maine prior to the war. He was Killed in Action on February 1, 1945 and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
