Walter C. Para was born on December 22, 1924 in Cicero, Cook County, Illinois. He was the son of Wojciech J. Para and Antonina Z. Para. He was drafted as a replacement on March 8, 1944. Walter served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in Company D, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on December 27, 1944 by small arms fire at the age of 20 and is now buried in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleums, Justice, Cook County, Illinois, USA.
