James Scott Greathouse was born on June 26, 1923 in Calhoun County, West Virginia. He was the son of Scott Thomas Greathouse and Ova Mae Grogg Greathouse. James served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on December 23, 1944 at the age of 21 and is now buried in Bryner's Chapel Cemetery, Joker, Calhoun County, West Virginia, USA.
