Quentin J. Koetting was born October 31, 1925, the second child of Conrad and Julia Watts Koetting at Taos, Missouri. He attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary and High School. His father had him quit school while he was in his sophomore year of High School. Quentin served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. The last letter he wrote, he said there were bombs flying over the tops of their tents. He was killed on February 2, 1945 in Germany at the age of 19, shortly after he arrived overseas. He is now buried in New Saint Xavier's Catholic Church Cemetery, Taos, Cole County, Missouri, USA.
