Flight Officer Herbert Woerpel took off from Serragia, Corse in his P-47 Thunderbolt 42-25296 on a mission to La Jasse airfield. He crashed around 1900 next to the D10. He is now buried in the Rhone American Cemetery, Draguignan, France. Herbert also has a cenotaph located at Medina Cemetery, Marshall, Dane County, Wisconsin.
