Veteran, WWII - 506/E "Band Of Brothers", 101st Airborne Pfc A. P. Herron Special to The Herald Courier BIG STONE GAP Va. June 10 —The remains of Pfc A. P. Herron, 21, who was killed January 18, 1945 in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge arrived here Thursday morning. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hack Herron two brothers Garvey Herron, Louisville, Ky.; Vernon Herron, Big Stone Gap; his grandfather, Thurman Herron, Big Stone Gap. Funeral service will be at 2 p m Sunday at Cadet Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Willis and Rev. Jess Gilley officiating. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery with members of John Fox Jr Post No 5715 Veterans of Foreign Wars serving as pallbearers and offering full military honors at graveside. Herron is Killed in Belgium and Vernon Herron is wounded in Germany, War Department Advise Parents One son killed and one wounded is the price Mr. and Mrs. Hack Herron of the Cadet section of town have paid in the drive into Germany. A. P. Herron, 22, paratrooper with the forces in Belgium was killed in action on January 18 the War Department has advised his mother, Mrs. Martha Herron and Monday another message was received telling of the wounding of the youngest son, Vernon, in German territory. The third and eldest son, Garnet is stationed in Italy. Young Herron who was unmarried is survived by one sister, Helen, in addition to his parents and brothers.
