Gerald Max Hassell, aged 25, was born on September 7, 1919 in Houston, Texas County, Missouri. He resided in Lincoln County, Wyoming prior to the war. Gerald served as a Second Lieutenant, 161st Field Artillery Battalion, 35th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 18, 1944 near Chambrey, France and is now buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-Avold, Departement de la Moselle, Lorraine, France. He also has a cenotaph located in Highland Cemetery, Casper, Natrona County, Wyoming, USA.
